Why Bright is the perfect PET-FRIENDLY HOLIDAY choice

17 Apr 2019 11:22 AM - We offer a wide range of Bright properties that are pet-friendly
Winter is the perfect time to bring your dog to Bright, with access to a wide variety of pet-friendly accommodation and activities.

Alpine Valley Getaways has more than 40 pet-friendly places to stay in Bright and the surrounding villages. What’s more, many of the local businesses – including cafes, restaurants and Bright Brewery – allow you to bring your precious pet with you.

Parks are also plentiful, giving your dog ample opportunities to stretch their legs (and yours!). Or take your dog for a swim in the pristine Ovens River, which flows from Harrietville through to Bright and Porepunkah – your pet will love you for it!

For the more adventurous hound and owner, a hike up to Apex Lookout is another option – this is located in State Forest, so dogs on leads are welcome. From Bright, head a few kilometres up Mount Porepunkah Road for the start of this popular walk.

Your pet can even get the chance to frolic in the snow at nearby Dinner Plain. A small Alpine village located near Mount Hotham, this is rare treat for most dogs and their owners.

Dogs must be registered with Alpine Council before visiting Dinner Plain; you can do this by completing an online form and paying the relevant fee. You can learn more by clicking here

Note that the Hotham Alpine Resort Entry Fee of $56 ($51 if bought online) doesn’t apply if you’re heading directly to Dinner Plain. Remember to carry snow chains if you’re driving up to Dinner Plain during winter.

It's no wonder that we believe Bright delivers the best pet holiday experience!

If you want some time to yourself during your stay, dog sitters are also available. This includes Bright Dog Sitting (@brightdogsitting on Facebook), LD’s Home Pet Care (0407 541 695 or ldpetcare@iprimus.com.au) and Bright Kennels (03 5756 2400 or 0438 562 400).

When staying at any of our pet-friendly properties in Bright, all we ask is that you never leave your dog unattended, and that they stay off carpeted areas and rugs, couches, beds and any furnishings. There’s also a maximum of two dogs per property.

Please read our rental agreement for more details about having your pet with you.
