The Porepunkah town centre offers all the conveniences you could need.  Stroll along the river or Rail Trail to a fabulous cafe, enjoy a buffet at the local pub or grab a DVD from the General Store.  The riverside foreshore has a great park with toddler pool, so everyone can join in the Summer fun.

A gorgeous drive through the Buckland Valley from Porepunkah will take your breath away then head up to Mount Buffalo to explore the National Park playground, also a family friendly ski resort in Winter.

Heading out to the Buckland, you will find the landing strip for the ultimate experience in the sky.  Soar high above on a tandem microlight or take a helicopter ride above the mountains and valleys.  Visit the Alpaca Farm or enjoy the finest local produce at award wining Villa Gusto... or just enjoy the views!

In Winter, Buffalo is the much loved family snow mountain with a great, gentle toboggan and ski run perfect for the littlies or beginners.  Toboggans and gear is available for hire and everything is a fraction of the price of the bigger resorts.  The ideal place to take the family for a day of snow play and hot chocolates!

What to do in Porepunkah region

Porepunkah is a great base to explore the whole region.  With the convenience of all that Bright has to offer just a short drive or cycle along the Rail Trail, you are also a little closer to the King Valley and have a few fabulous wineries on your doorstep.  Porepunkah offers the closest off-mountain accommodation to Mount Buffalo for your mountain adventure.

In Summer, laze the days away on the foreshore park with a playground for the kids and a shallow toddler pool so the littlies aren't left out.  The gentle river location is safe and fun with BBQ facilities on site.  Meet some locals in the beer garden at the Punkah pub and see if they will share their secret swimming holes... there's a few....  Avoid the heat by heading up Mount Buffalo or take a drive a little further out to Lake Buffalo where you can take the boat and skis for a spin.

In Autumn, the Valleys burst into colour and now is the perfect time to jump on the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail which runs along the river through the town.  Ride into Bright and out to Wandiligong or head in the other direction taking in wineries and views of Mt Buffalo along the way.  Enjoy the many festival & events and the buzz around the region as well as the amazing seasonal produce on offer right from the farm gates and producers.

In Winter, Porepunkah is a great base to enjoy a family snow getaway with an easy drive (by comparison) up to Mt Buffalo.  You are also central to the other major resorts of Hotham & Falls Creek if you're ready for some more challenging runs!  The views to Mt Feathertop and Mt Buffalo covered in snow are breathtaking from most points in the town and you can still take a winery tour for a change of pace.

In Spring, the valleys spring back to life and a hike in the mountains is the perfect way to refresh & recharge after Winter.  Take a guided gourmet foodie tour or just explore for yourself with a local trail map.  Discover the region from above on a tandem microlight!  A higly recommended way to experience something most never get to see.

So now just cruise down the road and take in all that Bright & Surrounds has to offer too!  You're going to be busy, or very relaxed.
