Mountain View Hotel, Wandiligong  Wandi Pub, Victoria  Wandi Pub, Wandiligong Victoria

No trip to the Great Alpine Valleys is complete without taking a drive to the beautiful Hamlet of Wandiligong.

The peaceful little town full of historical landmarks has been sympathetically developed to maintain it's
charm, history & character and is a must see.
A Wandi landmark (particularly for dirt bikers who take the many trails leading there) is the Mountain View Hotel or the 'Wandi Pub'.

The hotel came under new ownership only 5 weeks ago and the staff were warm & friendly. The building itself could use some TLC &style updating but it still has character.  The front bar walls are lined with historical photos & memorabilia and the Christmas spirit was in the air!

The highlight is the huge grassed beer garden out the back with heaps of room to let the kids burn some energy and a brilliant outdoor stage which hosts the pubs many jam nights & live gigs, which I hear are a hoot and occur regularly!

In terms of food & wine, this is no gastropub.  The food is standard cheap & cheerful pub grub but it too could use a little style updating, (orange slices on the salad & buttered bread triangles) it was like I said though cheap & cheerful.

Don't head out for a gourmet experience but definitely enjoy the ambience and mountain views with a cold beer and maybe some funky tunes out the back, and the chance to explore a beautiful town!
Check it out and hopefully the new owners will give the place the injection of love it so well deserves!
