Situated just 15 minutes from Bright, Harrietville is a great base for your Alpine Valley holiday without all the hustle & bustle. Bordered by Alpine National Park you can relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air or explore the natural surrounds.
In Winter, Harrietville offers the closest off mountain accommodation to the Mount Hotham Alpine Resort and in Summer the Tronoh Lake is the ideal place to cool down.

WHAT TO DO IN HARRIETVILLE


The 70 ft deep Tronoh Lake is the ideal place to cool down in Summer with a jetty, pontoon, shade sail & BBQ area. The lake is regularly stocked with various fish breeds so try your luck year round.
The Ovens River runs through Harrietville in 2 directions as it branches at the beginning of the town. There are many quiet shallow spots for children or those just wanting to dip their toes in.

Be guaranteed a catch at the Mountain Fresh Trout & Salmon Farm. Free entry & rod, try your luck in the ponds and they will clean and gut the fish for you!
Pay for the fish per kilo and have the ultimate Summer BBQ. Simply season the fish, stuff with lemon & lime, wrap in foil and throw on the BBQ for 8 minutes each side. Delish!

Step back in time at the Harrietville Historical Museum displayed in an original renovated miner's cottage. Showcasing the town's history through the gold rush with re-created room scenes, amazing photographs and lovingly restored antique pieces you can't help but be caught in the moment! For a little more history of a spookier kind explore the old Harrietville Cemetery!

In Summer pick fresh blueberries from the 'Pick Your Own' Blueberry Farm. Grab a basket and pay per kilo for the most delicious fresh berries.

In Winter, Harrietville offers the closest off mountain accommodation to the Mount Hotham Alpine Resort and easy access to Falls Creek & Mt Buffalo for a bit of variety. 
You can hire all your gear, buy your tickets & get everything you need in Harrietville before you head up the hill. It even snows in Harrietville from time to time!

Take a leisurely bushwalk along one of the many marked trails or for the more experienced & prepared take on the world renowned 'Mt Feathertop'! 
The Alpine National Park offers a range of trails starting in Harrietville heading up to spectacular views and a truly unforgettable experience.

Hit the BMX track constructed by the local community or get the adrenalin pumping with some downhill mountain bike action on the surrounding quality terrain.
